ROLLING
WITH PETS ON WHEELS
Volume
3 - Winter 2001
Pets on Wheels is an all-volunteer,
non-profit organization dedicated to providing companionship to
patients of nursing homes and hospitals.
A
NOTE FROM HEATHER
Wow, it is the end
of another year already. Now more than ever we need to be grateful
for everything we have and also for our ability to give of ourselves.
This time of year can be a very difficult time for our friends
at the nursing homes. As I say every year, our visits during the
holidays bring extra joy, happiness and smiles to those we visit.
One of the residents at the Veteren's Home recently told me how
much all of the residents enjoy our visits. For a resident to
say that, it really meant a lot. It was almost as though he was
their representative. I know how busy the month of December can
be, but please try to get to the nursing homes and see your friends.
That is what the season is all about. Have a wonderful holiday
and thank you for being great volunteers.
DATES
TO MARK YOUR CALENDER
Make a note of these
dates!
The third Wednesday of each month we visit RICA. RICA is a residential
placement for troubled youth. For the month of December, we will
visit RICA on Thursday December 20 at 7:00pm. Anyone interested
in visiting can contact Heather @ 301-396-4580. Periodically POW
has special daytime visits; if you are available and interested
contact Heather. Our quarterly get together will be held on January
19, look for a flyer in the mail containing specifics. We will
have a Pet Parade in February, so look for a flyer with more information.
Remember to check the Pets On Wheels phone number to confirm all
upcoming events (301-396-4580).

PICTURES
WITH SANTA
I want to thank Gary
Rotherock for spending the day dressed as an elf, having his picture
taken. I have to include Santa in the "thank yous".
An Arabic Santa has a hard time keeping himself cool while in
costume. Thanks for hanging in there Mohamed. The pictures looked
GREAT! We also thank Brad and Laurie Mullett for taking the pictures
and keeping track of everything. Volunteers, please keep an eye
out next year for our Santa pictures. It was fun and I think the
residents will really enjoy them.
 VETERENS
DAY VISIT
I want to thank everyone
who participated in the Veterans Day pet parade. The residents
really enjoyed seeing all the animals at once. As usual, all our
wonderful pets were really well behaved. It was a very special
day for everyone.
